It’s no secret that social media is broken and needs a redesign. Spread started as an experiment to build a social product that is not funded by advertising. After spending years in the trenches studying what’s wrong with the business models and architecture of today’s online platforms, we started to build Spread around two core tenets:
On Spread, you simply share the content you’re reading, listening to, or watching and discover what everyone else is too. In an online world that is flooded with rising tides of synthetic, AI-generated content, the internet is changing forever. We predict that in the future, real human recommendations will only become more important. In order to execute on our mission to enable access to the ideas that matter, we built Spread to be the Human Recommendation Engine of the internet.
Spread’s Human Recommendation Engine promotes meaningful discovery by providing a platform where trusted circles curate content that sparks genuine conversations elsewhere online and in the real world. Time spent on Spread is the fuel for informed dialogue rather than mindless, anti-social, endless scrolling. We are at a critical inflection point that will define the future of the internet and the media industry, and every day that goes by makes it more clear that the world needs Spread now!
We believe that Human progress requires healthy, and yes, argumentative dialogue. We believe humans are genetically curious and that objective knowledge is inherently social. So what better way to plant the seeds for productive knowledge gathering and dialogue than to guide your media diet based on what others you trust are reading, listening to, and watching. Even better, take a look at what the people you disagree with are Spreading and digest that too. We stay compulsively curious and informed so we can elevate the conversations we have in the real world.
We’re a team of intellectually curious technologists on a mission to enable access to the ideas that matter. Our vision is to build the go to platform that enables people across the globe to improve their media diet and enrich their conversations. We are looking to work with world class product and engineering folks that are compulsively curious and looking to build the next big thing. Interested to learn more about joining our team?
